The Christian Theological Seminary (CTS), Maruthanarmadam, prayerfully conducted the Installation Service of its 7th Principal on June 28, 2026, at Christa Seva Ashram, Maruthanarmadam. The service was organized and led by the Church of the American Ceylon Mission (CACM), with the Rev. A.S. Thevagunanthan, Chairperson of the denomination, presiding over the ceremony.
Christa Seva Ashram holds a special place in the history of CTS. In its early years, the Ashram served as the residential center for theological students, while the late Chief Sevak Sam Alfred (popularly known as Sam Annan) served as Dean of Students. The installation service of the Seminary’s first Principal, the Rev. T.S. Premarajah (1991), was also held at the Ashram and was led by Bishop D.J. Ambalavanar, the founder of CTS. In recognition of this historic relationship, the Seminary chose the same venue for the installation of its 7th Principal. The event also reflected the Seminary’s commitment to strengthening Christian ecumenism.
The newly installed Principal, Rev. Dr. P. Rajan Rohaan, hails from Valaichchenai in the Batticaloa District. He completed his Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) and Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.) degrees at the Christian Theological Seminary. He also holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies from Colombo and a Master of Theological Studies (MTS) from Eden Theological Seminary, USA.
Rev. Dr. P. Rajan Rohaan is widely recognized for his peace building and reconciliation initiatives. His ministry has focused on fostering reconciliation between Tamils and Sinhalese, promoting peaceful coexistence between Tamil and Muslim communities in the Batticaloa and Ampara districts, and advocating for freedom of religion and belief. In recognition of his contributions, he received the Peace Actor Award from EHED-Caritas and an Honorary Doctorate from Alabama University. He is also a founding member of the South Asia Forum for Freedom of Religion and serves as an Academic Trainer for the Asian Campus Ministry.
During the ceremony, the outgoing Principal, Rev. A. Kamalakumaran, formally handed over his responsibilities to the new Principal. The service was attended by clergy and lay representatives from the Church of the American Ceylon Mission, the Jaffna Diocese of the Church of South India (JDCSI), the Methodist Church, the Anglican Church, and the Catholic Church, demonstrating a strong spirit of ecumenical fellowship.
The sermon was delivered by Rev. A. Jeyakumaran, former Chairperson and current Board Member of the CTS Council. In his message, he emphasized the Seminary’s responsibility to nurture young Christian leaders with vision and transformative commitment toward human dignity, spiritual renewal, community empowerment, and pastoral care.
The significant event concluded with refreshments and a time of ecumenical fellowship among the participants.
The arrangements for the installation service were coordinated by the Dean, Rev. Daniel Ranjith, together with the Seminary candidates, who ensured the successful organization of the event.

பிரசங்கத்தை கிறிஸ்தவ இறையியல் கல்லூரி பேரவையின் முன்னாள் தலைவரும் தற்போதைய உறுப்பினருமான அருட்பணி. அ. ஜெயக்குமரன் அவர்கள் வழங்கினார். தனது செய்தியில், மனித கண்ணியம், ஆவிக்குரிய புதுப்பிப்பு, சமூக வலுவூட்டல் மற்றும் மேய்ப்புப் பணிக்கான அர்ப்பணிப்பு ஆகியவற்றில் மாற்றத்தை உருவாக்கும் பார்வையுடைய இளம் கிறிஸ்தவ தலைவர்களை உருவாக்குவது கல்லூரியின் முக்கிய பொறுப்பாகும் என வலியுறுத்தினார்.
