Theological Education is a kind of religious education, but it is more advanced and pertaining to the clergy’s work in nature. While Sunday school education and religious education are part of Christian education, theological education is formally offered at seminaries and Bible colleges.
Spiritual understanding of Scriptures requires a turning of the will towards God.” Scriptural interpretation requires skill that comes from spiritual maturity. (Hebrews 5:14)
Apostle Peter himself was not theologically trained in Jewish schools like Paul was trained, he along with the others was trained by Jesus. The Jews noted when they listened to Peter and John, they saw them speaking with boldness, and they marvelled. (Acts 4:13)
Jesus admonished his disciples not be called “Rabbi”; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brethren” (Matt 23:7-8)
Christian Theological Seminary of Sri Lanka at Maruthanarmadam, Chunnakam has been training men and women for Pastoral Ministry, to serve people in order to bring transformation and salvation in Jesus Christ. In the tradition of the Batticotta Seminary (1823-1855), CTS-SL continues to equip those called by God, empowered by the Holy Spirit, enabled to lead by serving in the name of Christ.
