Our Vision

To be a Christ-centered theological seminary in the tradition of the Church of the American Ceylon Mission, forming a transformative community of disciples in the Asian context that participates in the Missio Dei and bears visible witness to God’s reign through radical inclusion, ecumenical communion, prophetic justice, reconciliation, and the integrity of creation.

Our Mission

Rooted in the historic faith and witness of the Church of the American Ceylon Mission (CACM), and attentive to the opportunities and challenges of the Asian context, Christian Theological Seminary is committed to:

1. Theological Formation and Discipleship - To nurture spiritually mature and theologically competent leaders who embody Christ-like discipleship, integrating faith, learning, ministry, and daily life in faithful service to the Church and society.
2. Contextual and Critical Engagement - To engage critically and constructively with the social, cultural, religious, political, and economic realities of Sri Lanka and Asia-particularly in areas of post-war reconciliation, interreligious coexistence, social justice, and nation-building-through contextual theological reflection.
3. Participation in the Missio Dei - To equip students to discern and participate in God’s mission by proclaiming the Gospel in word and deed, fostering holistic transformation, justice, peace, and compassionate service.
4. Inclusive Community and Justice - To cultivate a diverse and inclusive learning community that reflects God’s love by affirming the dignity of every person across ethnic, linguistic, gender, economic, and social differences, while standing in solidarity with marginalized and vulnerable communities.
5. Ecumenical and Interfaith Collaboration - To strengthen unity among Christian traditions and promote respectful dialogue and collaborative engagement with people of other faiths in pursuit of reconciliation, mutual understanding, and the common good.
6. Ecological Responsibility and Eco-Justice - To integrate ecological theology with practical environmental stewardship, affirming the sacredness of creation and responding prophetically to climate change and ecological degradation.
7. Academic Excellence and Ministerial Integrity - To uphold the highest standards of theological scholarship while nurturing ethical leadership, pastoral sensitivity, ministerial competence, and lifelong learning.
