Indiana Kentucky is one of the fifty states of America. The church in this state is known as the Indiana Kentucky Conference (IKC), which is part of the United Church of Christ, our mother church and partner in ministry. Five representatives from the IKC visited Sri Lanka in two groups on the 24th and 25th of January.
The delegation included the Vice President, Rev. Monica; the Coordinator of IKC and CACM, Rev. Sarah, along with her husband Sean; and a young priest, Rev. Kedric, together with his wife Ronnie.
During their visit, they travelled extensively across the Northern and Eastern regions. In the Vavuniya area, they visited Kalamdu, Rajenthirakulam, Poovarasankulam, and Maravankulam. They also visited Killinochi and Mullativu. A significant moment of their visit was meeting the priests of Wanni Region at Suthanthirapuram, where they engaged in meaningful discussion and fellowship. The team also participated in Sunday worship at Uduvil, Sathiyapuram, and Navaly churches, where they shared the word of God.
On Sunday the 25th, After the Worship they visited Uduvil Girls College, Uduvil Mission Grave, Tellippalai Church, Tellippalai Mission Grave, Navaly St. Peters Church, Manipay Green Memorial Hospital, Pandatheripu Church, Karaingar Church, and the activities that happens in Oori. At each location, they interacted warmly with church members and clergy, sharing experiences and strengthening bonds of partnership.
On the following Monday, they visited the HALO Trust mine clearance institution in Muhamaalai. There, they met senior officials and staff members and personally observed the mine clearance operations in the field. They also met the Jaffna region priests and the Christian Theological Seminary family, fostering deeper ecclesial relationships.
On Tuesday the 27th, they travelled to Batticaloa. As they journeyed past the war monuments, they enquired about Mullivaaikal and reflected on its historical significance. In Batticaloa, they visited the Tsunami Memorial, Easter bomb blast memorial, Kaathankudi mosque, Periyaneelavanai girls’ hostel, St. Johns boys’ hostel, YLP and VTC. They met the priests of the Eastern region and engaged in thoughtful conversations and mutual sharing of experiences.
Their visit also included Nuwaraeliya, where various ministry activities were carried out. They especially visited Amhest and Enick places. There too, they met clergy and community members, continuing their fellowship and exchange of experiences.
The delegation later returned to Colombo and proceeded to Dehiwela. On the 1st of February, they participated in the Sunday service at the church, where the word of God was delivered by the Coordinator of Sri Lanka of IKC, Rev. Sarah. The visit of the IKC delegation brought renewed encouragement and inspiration to the church and its ministries. It opened wider avenues for collaboration between CACM and IKC, strengthening partnership and resource sharing for future mission and service.
The successful coordination of their visit was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Mr. Priveen Joseph, Mr. N.K. Rameshkumar, Dr. Tharshan Ambalavabar, CACM officials, Regional Ministers, priests, the Christian Theological Seminary family, and central officers.

அமெரிக்காவில் உள்ள 50 மாநிலங்களில் “இன்டியானா கென்டக்கி" (Indiana Kentucky) என்பதும் ஒரு மாநிலமாகும். இம்மாநிலத்தில் உள்ள திருச்சபை 'இன்டியானா கென்டக்கி கொன்பிரன்ஸ் (Indiana Kentucky Conference) என அழைக்கப்படுகின்றது. எமது தாய்த் திருச்சபையாகவும் பங்காளித்துவத் திருச்சபையாகவும் காணப்படுகின்ற ஐக்கிய கிறிஸ்தவ திருச்சபையின் (United Church of Christ - UCC) ஒரு அங்கமாத விளங்குகின்ற IKC யினுடைய 05 பிரதிநிதிகள் அமெரிக்கன் சிலோன் மிசன் திருச்சபையினுடைய பணிகளைப் பார்வையிடவும் உறவினை மேம்படுத்தவும் ஜனவரி 22ம் திகதி ஒரு குழுவாகவும் 24ம் திகதி இன்னுமொரு குழுவாகவும் இலங்கைக்கு வருகை தந்தனர். இக்குழுவில் IKC யினுடைய உப தலைவராகப் பணியாற்றும் அருட்பணியாளர் மொனிக்கா IKC யினுடைய CACM க்கான இணைப்பாளராகப் பணியாற்றும் அருட்பணியாளர் சேரா அவருடைய கணவர் ஷேன் மற்றும் இளம் அருட்பணியாளரான ஹெட்டிரிக், அவருடைய துணைவியார் றொணி ஆகியோர் அடங்கியிருந்தனர்.
இவர்கள் வவுனியாப் பிரதேசத்தில் நடைபெறுகின்ற அமெரிக்கன் சிலோன் மிசன் திருச்சபையின் பணிக் களங்களான இராஜேந்திரன்குளம், பூவரசன்குளம், கல்மடு, மறவன்குளம் ஆகிய இடங்களையும் கிளிநொச்சி, முல்லைத்தீவு ஆகிய இடங்களில் உள்ள பணிக்களங்களையும் பார்வையிட்டனர். குறிப்பாக சுதந்திரபுரத்தில் வன்னிப் பிராந்தியக் குருமாரைச் சந்தித்துக் கலந்துரையாடினர். அதன்பின் இவர்கள் அனைவரும். உடுவில், சத்தியபுரம், நவாலி ஆகிய திருச்சபைகளில் ஞாயிறு வழிபாடுகளில் கலந்து கொண்டதுடன் இறைசெய்திகளையும் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டனர்.
ஞாயிறு 25ம் திகதி வழிபாட்டினை நவாலி சென் பீற்றர்ஸ் தேவாலயம், மானிப்பாய் கிறீன் வைத்தியசாலை, மானிப்பாய் தேவாலயம், பண்டத்தரிப்பு தேவாலயம்,உடுவில் மகளீர் கல்லூரி, உடுவில் மிசன் கல்லறைத் தோட்டம், தெல்லிப்பளை தேவாலயம், தெல்லிப்பளைத் மிசன் கல்லறைத் தோட்டம், காரைநகர் தேவாலயம், ஊரியில் நடைபெறும் பணிகள் என்பவற்றைப் பார்வையிட்டதுடன் ஆங்காங்குள்ள பணியாளர்களையும் இறைமக்களையும் சந்தித்து அனுபவங்களைப் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டனர்.
மறுநாள் திங்கள் இவர்கள் முகமாலையில் இயங்கும் கண்ணி வெடி அகற்றும் “HALO Trust" நிறுவன உயரதிகாரிகளையும் பணியாளர்களையும் சந்தித்துக் கலந்துரையாடியதுடன் மிதிவெடியகற்றும் பணிகளையும் நேரடியாகக் களத்துக்குச் சென்ற பற்வையிட்டனர். பின்னர் யாழ் பிராந்தியக் குருமாரையும் கிறிஸ்தவ இறையியல் கல்லூரிக் குடும்பத்தினையும் சந்தித்துக் கலந்துரையாடினர்.
செல்வாய் 27ம் திகதி மட்டக்களப்புக்கு விஜயம் செய்த இவர்கள் போகும் பாதையில் முள்ளிவாய்க்கால் சம்பவங்களைக் கண்டறிந்து கொண்டதுடன் மறுநாள் சுனாமி நினைவாலயம்இ ஈஸ்டர் குண்டுத் தாக்குதல் நினைவிடம், காத்தான்குடி பள்ளிவாசல், பெரியநீலாவணை பெண்கள் இல்லம், பரி யோவான் ஆண்கள் இல்லம், வாலிபர் தலைமைத்துவப் பயிற்சி மாணவர்கள் (YLP) தொழிற்பயிற்சி நிலையம் (VTC) ஆகிய பணிக்களங்களைத் தரிசித்ததுடன் கலந்துரையாடல்களையும் மேற்கொண்டனர். கிழக்கு மாகாணத்தில் பணியாற்றும் குருமாரையும் இவர்கள் சந்தித்து அவர்களது அனுபவங்களையும் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டனர்.
பின்னர் இவர்கள் நுவரெலியாப் பகுதியில் நடைபெறும் பணிகளைப் பார்வையிட்டனர். குறிப்பாக எமஸ்ட், எனிக் ஆகிய பணிக்களங்களைப் பார்வையிட்டதுடன் அங்கு வாழும் மக்களுடையதும் பணியாளர்களுடையதும் அனுபவங்களையும் பகிர்ந்துகொண்டனர்.
அதன் பின்னர் கொழும்பு திரும்பிய குழுவினர் தெகிவளையில் உள்ள அமெரிக்கன் சிலோன் மிசனுடைய ஞாயிறு வழிபாட்டில் பெப்ரவரி 1ம் திகதி கலந்து கொண்டனர். அவ்வழிபாட்டில் இறை செய்தியினை IKC யினுடைய இலங்கைக்கான இணைப்பாளர் அருட்பணி. சேரா அவர்கள் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார். மேற்படி IKC அணியினருடய வருகையானது எமக்கும் திருச்சபைப் பணிகளுக்கும் அதிக உந்துதலைக் கொடுத்துள்ளதுடன் எதிர்வரும் காலங்களில் இணைந்து இலங்கையிலும் அமெரிக்க தேசத்திலும் பணியாற்றவும் அனுபவங்களையும் வளங்களையும் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளவும் அதிக வாயில்களைத் திறந்துள்ளது.
