The first Annual Clergy Retreat and Official Clergy Meeting for the four regions of the Church of the American Ceylon Mission (CACM) were held on 29 and 30 June 2026 at Christa Seva Ashram and the Christian Theological Seminary (CTS), Maruthanarmadam.
The Clergy Retreat commenced on Monday, 29 June 2026, at 8.00 a.m. with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at Christa Seva Ashram. The service was jointly led by the Ministers of the four regions. The message for the day was delivered by Rev. Dr. Rajan Rogaan, and the worship concluded with the Episcopal Blessing pronounced by the Chairperson of the Church, Rev. A. S. Thevagunananthan.
Following the tea break, the first session was held from 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 noon at the Periyannan Hall of Christa Seva Ashram. The session was led by the Chairperson of the Church on the theme, "The Church`s and Pastor`s Call in the Sri Lankan Context`s of Conflit."
The presentation was delivered as a multimedia session and was based on the book A Guide for Ministry written by Bishop Nishantha Fernando of the Anglican Diocese of Kurunegala. During his presentation, the President emphasized several essential principles that every clergy member should faithfully uphold in ministry:
- Growing as a spiritually mature servant of God.
- Ministering with integrity and a clear conscience.
- Maintaining a Christ-centred lifestyle.
- Caring for physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
- Upholding appropriate clerical dress and appearance.
- Practising a balanced and disciplined life in ministry.
- Using words with wisdom, grace, and responsibility.
Following the intercessory prayer and lunch break, the second session was conducted from 2.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. under the theme, "What Should Be Avoided in the Pulpit." Through another multimedia presentation, the Chairperson highlighted thirty important principles concerning preaching ministry and pastoral communication. The session provided valuable guidance for strengthening the effectiveness and integrity of the clergy's preaching ministry.
The Official Clergy Meeting was held on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, at 10.00 a.m. in the auditorium of the Christian Theological Seminary, Maruthanarmadam. The meeting was chaired by the Chairperson of the Church, Rev. A. S. Thevagunananthan, and coordinated by the Secretary of the Clergy Association, Rev. R. John Selvam.
During the meeting, Pastors discussed a wide range of matters relating to the life and ministry of the Church, including administrative concerns, pastoral responsibilities, practical challenges faced in ministry, and future plans for the mission of the Church. The gathering concluded with a fellowship lunch, bringing the two-day programme to a meaningful and blessed close.
அமெரிக்கன் சிலோன் மிஷன் திருச்சபையின் நான்கு பிராந்தியங்களையும் சேர்ந்த அருட்பணியாளர்களுக்கான முதலாவது வருடாந்த ஞானவொடுக்கமும் உத்தியோகபூர்வக் கூட்டமும் 2026 ஜூன் 29 மற்றும் 30 ஆகிய திகதிகளில் மருதனார்மடம் கிறிஸ்தவ சேவ ஆசிரமத்திலும் கிறிஸ்தவ இறையியல் கல்லூரியிலும் நடைபெற்றன.
2026 ஜூன் 29 ஆம் திகதி திங்கட்கிழமை காலை 8.00 மணிக்கு கிறிஸ்தவ சேவ ஆசிரமத்தில் நடைபெற்ற தூய நற்கருணை வழிபாட்டுடன் ஞானவொடுக்கம் ஆரம்பமானது. இந்த ஆராதனையை நான்கு பிராந்தியங்களின் குருமுதல்வர்கள் இணைந்து நடத்தினர். அன்றைய இறைசெய்தியை அருட்கலாநிதி ராஜன் றோகான் அவர்கள் பகிர்ந்துகொண்டார். திருச்சபைத் தலைவர் அருட்பணி ஏ. எஸ். தேவகுணானந்தன் அவர்களின் இறையாசியுடன் ஆராதனை நிறைவுற்றது.
தேநீர் இடைவேளைக்குப் பின்னர்இ காலை 10.30 மணி முதல் நண்பகல் 12.00 மணி வரை மருதனார்மடம் கிறிஸ்தவ சேவ ஆசிரமத்தின் பெரியண்ணன் மண்டபத்தில் முதல் அமர்வு நடைபெற்றது. இதில் திருச்சபைத் தலைவர் அருட்பணி ஏ. எஸ். தேவகுணானந்தன் அவர்கள் "இலங்கையின் முரண்பாடுகள் நிறைந்த சூழலில் திருச்சபைகளுக்கும் குருமாருக்குமான அழைப்பு" என்ற தலைப்பில் உரையாற்றினார்.
இவ்வமர்வு பல்லூடக விளக்கக் காட்சியாக (Multimedia Presentation) அமைந்திருந்தது. குருநாகல் அங்கிலிக்கன் திருமண்டலப் பேராயர் நிஷாந்த பெர்ணான்டோ அவர்கள் எழுதிய "திருப்பணிக்கான வழிகாட்டி" என்ற நூலை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு இவ்விளக்கவுரை தயாரிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.
தமது உரையில் அருட்பணியாளர்கள் கடைப்பிடிக்க வேண்டிய முக்கியமான பண்புகள் மற்றும் ஒழுக்கநெறிகள் குறித்து திருச்சபைத் தலைவர் விரிவாக எடுத்துரைத்தார். குறிப்பாக அவர் வலியுறுத்திய விடயங்கள்:
1. ஆன்மீக முதிர்ச்சியுடைய நபராக வளர்தல்.
2. மனச்சாட்சிக்கேற்ப நேர்மையுடன் செயற்படுதல்.
3. அருட்பணியாளரின் வாழ்வியல் ஒழுக்கம்.
4. உடல் மற்றும் மன ஆரோக்கியத்தைப் பேணுதல்.
5. அருட்பணியாளருக்குரிய உடை ஒழுக்கம்.
6. திருப்பணியில் சமநிலையான வாழ்க்கை முறையைக் கடைப்பிடித்தல்.
7. பொறுப்புணர்வுடனும் ஞானத்துடனும் வார்த்தைகளைப் பயன்படுத்துதல்.
இதனைத் தொடர்ந்து பரிந்து மன்றாடல் மற்றும் மதிய உணவு இடைவேளைக்குப் பின்னர், பிற்பகல் 2.00 மணி முதல் 3.30 மணி வரை இரண்டாவது அமர்வு நடைபெற்றது.
இரண்டாவது அமர்விலும் திருச்சபைத் தலைவர் அருட்பணி ஏ. எஸ். தேவகுணானந்தன் அவர்கள் "பிரசங்கபீடத்தில் தவிர்க்கப்பட வேண்டியவை" என்ற தலைப்பில் பல்லூடக விளக்கக் காட்சியின் மூலம் 30 முக்கியமான விடயங்களை விளக்கமாக எடுத்துரைத்தார். இவ்வமர்வு அருட்பணியாளர்களின் பிரசங்க ஊழியத்தை மேலும் செம்மைப்படுத்துவதற்குப் பயனுள்ள வழிகாட்டுதல்களை வழங்கியது.
2026 ஜூன் 30 ஆம் திகதி செவ்வாய்க்கிழமை காலை 10.00 மணிக்கு கிறிஸ்தவ இறையியல் கல்லூரி கேட்போர் கூடத்தில் அருட்பணியாளர்களுக்கான உத்தியோகபூர்வக் கூட்டம் நடைபெற்றது. இக்கூட்டம் திருச்சபைத் தலைவர் அருட்பணி ஏ. எஸ். தேவகுணானந்தன் அவர்களின் தலைமையிலும், அருட்பணியாளர் ஒன்றியச் செயலாளர் அருட்பணி எஸ். ஜோன் செல்வம் அவர்களின் ஒழுங்குபடுத்தலிலும் நடைபெற்றது.
இக்கூட்டத்தில் திருச்சபை நிர்வாகம், ஊழிய வளர்ச்சி, பிராந்தியங்களின் செயற்பாடுகள், நடைமுறைச் சவால்கள் மற்றும் எதிர்காலத் திட்டங்கள் தொடர்பாக விரிவான கலந்துரையாடல்கள் இடம்பெற்றன. இறுதியில் அனைவரும் ஐக்கிய மதிய உணவைப் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டதன் மூலம் இந்நிகழ்வுகள் இனிதே நிறைவுற்றன.
